Come and visit our small flower farm in the Rossendale Hills to create a unique seasonally hand tied bouquet.
You will spend 3 hours at the small scale flower farm and learn how to cut flowers from the farm in a sustainable way. We have flowers that are grown specifically for you to choose from in our beds and polytunnels, but occasionally forage from around the garden for a few small additions. Please don't be offended if we politely decline cuttings from the garden around the house if we feel it would impact it too much. We will show you how to prepare the flowers for an extended vase life; how to construct a hand tied arrangement; and how to package and present the flowers in pride of place in your home.
The workshops are a maximum of 8 people so that they remain informal and you get the opportunity to work at your own pace in the peaceful surrounding of the garden.
All packaging used is safe and compostable.
Depending upon the weather the workshops will be either outside or in the polytunnel.
There will be light refreshments available, and we encourage you to bring a picnic blanket, weather permitting, to find a spot in the field to enjoy a peaceful half an hour afterwards.
The workshops are not suitable for children under the age of 12. Unfortunately, as we have a a sheep and a goat in the garden (our lawnmowers), we can't cater for dogs. Parking is available.
The flower farm attracts insects and wildlife, especially bees. If you have any allergies, please take necessary precautions.
Flowers available will change throughout the season and are likely to be different than those in the photographs. Please see our Facebook and Instagram pages for current photos of what is available.
What to wear
Although small the garden is particularly hilly in places with rough ground. We recommend sturdy shoes and layered clothing. As we are higher in the Rossendale hills it can be a little cooler than down in the Valley. If you want to relax on a blanket in the field afterwards, please just bear in mind that the ground may be damp.
All equipment will be supplied, but if you would like to bring your own secateurs then feel free to do so. You will be supplied with an apron to protect your clothing.
Access
The garden and flower farm includes areas of rough ground. Please be aware the garden is not suitable people with restricted mobility or for wheel chair access.
The flower farm is located up a single track road and there is ample parking available.
