Flower Farm

Clough in Bloom is a micro business which is based at our home in the hills above Rossendale.

Over the past ten years, our own garden has grown and now meanders through our patch of land to include formal and informal spaces where we nurture a mixture of cut flowers and foliage plants. We use our two small polytunnels to protect our more delicate plants in the early stages of their life, but concentrate on hardy species that showcase the beautiful array of plants that thrive in our local habitat.  We have recently added a few raised beds to help us organise a flowers, but often plant into the ground and let mother nature do her best!

We grow our flowers without harmful chemicals  and use environmentally friendly practices to manage any unruly weeds.

We grow a selection of annuals, perennials and shrubs for cutting, and only cut what we think is right when we pick up our secauteurs.

Benefits of buying local and 'in season'

  • Reduced carbon footprint - We grow here and we cut here, and we propagate as much as we can here in our polytunnels.
  • We love our flowers, but are equally focused on our ecosystem and the preservation of biodiversity. Our flowers and plants create habitats and food sources for various pollinators, such as bees, moths and butterflys.
  • Native plants are well adapted to local climates, require less watering compared to exotic or non- native species, and are every bit as beautiful.
  • We use sustainable and ecofriendly practices - we do not use harmful chemical or artificial fertilisers on our flowers. This helps to protect  insects, soil health and the overall ecosystem.
  • By supporting local businessess you are contributing to the economy in your area. This can help sustain rural communities and preserve agricultural land, which is vital for wildlife habitats and maintaining the beauty of the natural countryside
  • We want you to see your flowers as part of a natural process.  We are not a florist, but our flowers are beautiful and let you take your slice of our environment home.  We encourage you to inspire others to consider the environmental impact of their floral choices.
  • We are all much more conscious of the impact of our lifestyle and food choices on the environment, but few of us consider the environmental impact of the flowers on our kitchen table.  Many are flown across continents and represent real harm to our planet, however beautiful they may be.
  • Buying locally grown flowers means you will have created your own beautiful bouquet which is unique compared to your local florist or super market. Your bouquet will have a natural feel with a wonderful fragrance.
